Manchester City shook off their FA Cup final defeat to Crystal Palace by beating Bournemouth 3:1 in their final home match of the season, part of the 37th round in the Premier League. The result lifts the Citizens back into third place with 68 points. They now need just one more point in their final match against Fulham to secure a place in next season’s Champions League. The night at Etihad Stadium was especially emotional as fans bid farewell to Kevin De Bruyne, who leaves the club after a decade in Manchester. 2k2m57

The game also featured a spectacular goal by Omar Marmoush, a shocking miss by De Bruyne, two red cards, and returns from injury for Rodri and Oscar Bobb.
City came out pressing and created chances from the start. The opening goal arrived in the 14th minute when Marmoush took control near midfield, advanced, and blasted the ball into the top corner from about 35 metres. De Bruyne then missed what many considered the miss of the season, hitting the crossbar from five metres with an open goal ahead of him, in front of a home crowd giving him a hero’s send-off.
Despite the blunder, Manchester City doubled their lead before the break. Gundogan set up Bernardo Silva, who slotted the ball into the near post from close range to make it 2:0.
The second half saw one red card for each side. Mateo Kovacic was the first to go after a mistake in defence led him to foul Evanilson, who was through on goal. It was the Croatian’s first red in five years. Six minutes later, Bournemouth were also reduced to ten men when Cook received a straight red for a rough tackle on Gonzalez.
De Bruyne left the pitch in the 69th minute to a thunderous ovation from the fans. The home crowd was also treated to the return of Rodri, who had not played for 244 days due to a knee ligament injury, and Oscar Bobb, who broke his leg earlier this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side scored a third goal in the 89th minute, as Gonzalez advanced with the ball, held off a challenge, and fired a shot into the near post for 3:0. Bournemouth pulled one back in stoppage time through Jebbison, who capitalised on a defensive error to net his first goal for the club and set the final score at 3:1.
